Dental Crowns

When a tooth has been damaged due to trauma or decay, it can become fragile. Pressure from normal chewing can jeopardize the tooth if protection is not added. Dental crowns, inlays and onlays can add strength to teeth that have been weakened. At Columbia Dental Center, we offer beautiful dental crowns and other general dentistry options to protect damaged teeth.

Dental crowns can be made from a variety of materials, from metals such as gold or silver, to porcelain crowns that can be matched to a natural tooth color. Crowns fit over the damaged tooth, creating a solid, strong surface that looks like a natural tooth. Crowns are commonly used to fix broken, cracked or damaged teeth that would otherwise be as at risk of further breakage. Teeth that undergo root canal therapy often need a dental crown for protection after the procedure.

Restore Cracked or Damaged Teeth

Once a tooth is cracked or damaged, the exterior must be strengthened. Damage can be caused by trauma or multiple fillings from cavities, weakening the structure of the tooth. Dental crowns or caps are one option to protect the interior of the tooth. At Columbia Dental Center, we can create crowns that will be comfortable and match your natural teeth. We even have CEREC same-day crowns that can repair and crown your damaged tooth the same day.

Dental Inlays and Onlays

For teeth that only have partial damage, a full crown may not be needed. Cracked teeth, or teeth with multiple fillings, can often be strengthened with inlays or onlays of composite resin. This adds a layer of tough resin to your tooth. The composite resin can be matched to your tooth color to blend perfectly into your smile.

If you have a damaged or weakened tooth, we have solutions to repair and protect it from further damage. Contact Columbia Dental Center today to learn more about our dental crowns, inlays and onlays for tooth repair or to book an appointment.
